Knoxville Touch Rugby League
Possums Win 2 at Nash Bash
This past weekend KRFC traveled to Nashville, TN to participate in Nash Bash. On Saturday the Possums faced off against Queen City (Cincinnati, OH) and came away with a 47-19 victory and a chance for several new players to get much needed playing time and experience. On Sunday the Possums returned to the pitch with only 15 players as several players had to return to Knoxville after Saturday’s match. Knoxville had several players playing out of position and at less than 100 % but was able to put together an impressive game and defeat White River (Indianapolis, IN) 43-0. Next up is the Red vs Grey scrimmage and Family/ Old Boy Appreciation Day set for April 21st at Possum Park.
Family / Old Boy Appreciation Day Postponed until Fall 2012
The possums invite all family, friends and old boys to join us in September (actual date to be posted soon) for Fan Appreciaiton Day. The day will begin at noon with a friendly scrimmage between the club. All old boys and former players are invited (strongly encouraged) to participate and special non-contact jerseys will be available as well. After the game we will have food, drinks, and games.
Possums Win on the Road / Prepare for Nash Bash
Knoxville traveled to Huntsville, AL on March 24th for what would be the final matrix match of the season. The possums traveled light only bringing 15 players and managed to control the match from the opening whistle. The final score was Knoxville 60 and Huntsville 12. With the win Knxoville finishes the Matrix season with a 2-5 record. The team will travel to Nash Bash on March 31st to get more games/experience for the young squad.
Possums Get the Win over Huntsville
Despite fierce winds and tornadoes on Friday night, Huntsville was able to make the trip to Knoxville to battle the Possum’s in a matrix match. Huntsville was a few players short and the teams quikly decided that Huntsville would forfeit and a the teams would play a friendly to allow everyone to get a run in. The Possums controlled the game from the start and scored several tries while only conceding 3 points on a penalty kick to Huntsville. Knoxville must now get ready to head east and battle the Memphis Blues on Saturday, March 10th.
