Knoxville TN, Possum Park: The TN 7′s Tournament in its 33rd year proved no disappointment in quality 7′s rugby. The morning saw Pool Play between two groups of four teams. UT1, Chattanooga, Memphis, and Johnson City in Pool A. Pool B consisted of UT2, Nashville, Hopkinsville, and Knoxville. All results are posted below.
The brackets were set after the afternoon break and single elimination ensued. The Final Match was between the two undefeated’s: Nashville and UT. It was a hard fought affair, with Nashville on top 19 -0 at the half. UT ran out of time scoring their second try as time expired. Final score 19-14.
As always a lively social took place post final. The TN 7′s staples of Ice cold Watermelon and a death defying Slip n Slide of course made an appearance. We would like to thank all teams for participating this year to make it a great tournament, especially teams that traveled the distance, i.e. Memphis, Hopkinsville, Nashville.
Also, due thanks goes to some people behind the scenes: Matt at Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics for the medical support, Donna and Vincent at Sports Locker for the rugby match balls and merchandise sales and Cool Beans and Eagle Distributing for the refreshments.
