Santa Claus 7s 2007

Summary:
Five teams competed for the Golden Santa this year: Washington D.C., Johnson City, UT, Knox1, Knox2. The weather was unfortunately nice and sunny this year resulting in some Santa 7s faithfuls to leave early in disgust (Boo was not one of those people).
The morning started out with Round Robin play. UT dominated early with overall quickness but the scoring was held in-check due to the new rules: no one under 200 lbs could score. It was quickly learned that fielding a side with only one fast guy was ineffective.

Washington: 4
Knoxville-Even: 2
The top 4 teams were seeded in a single elimination tourney. During the first round of matches, UT and Knoxville-Odd quickly jumped ahead of their opponents and it looked like it was going to be an All-City championship game, that is until UT’s lack of depth became evident after a set of injuries midway through the first match with Washington. Behind by two tries, Washington finished with two fast tries and upset the 2-yr champions. Knoxville-Odd was a little too much for either JC or Washington and brought the concrete Santa back to Possum Park until next year.
