Possum Take Lead Of Central Pool Defeating Chattanooga 34-12

Twas a chilly Saturday that saw the brave boys from Possum Park take on the red and black (and blue sweatpants) of Nooga rugby.

The big yellow bus finally got our team to the park closer to kick-off than I would have liked, and then we got down to making selections from our legions of “walking wounded”. Once play got started, we managed to put some early points on after a lot of pressure play in Nooga’s 22. It almost all came undone though as we made some unfortunate errors and put alot of pressure on ourselves late in the first half and early second half. Nooga could smell blood and were on fire, but luckily a couple more tries to Knoxville sealed the deal.

Final score Knoxville 34- Nooga 12. As always could have been better … too many unforced handling errors cost us a lot of points and possession, and almost the game. But a win is a win and we’ll take it!! The rest we’ll sort out at practice.

Congrats also to the A-side reserve team on a hard-fought victory over a combined UTC / Nooga side. It’s good to know that you guys have got our backs and are working on your skills, because judging by our injury tally we’ll need you all before this season is over.

Thanks to Nooga for good food, cold beer and many laughs at their pub after the game … always a good time with you guys. We look forward to offering you more of the same when you come up in a few weeks.

See you at practice,

Pete the C

MAN OF THE MATCH: Adam “Two Tries” Ingle, closely followed by Josh “I don’t need no steenkin’ jersey” Peay. Thanks for all that you do guys!
