Asheville September 20, 2005

September 21, 2005

Knoxville traveled with around 25 players to take on Asheville in our
first game for the season.

We came out hard and enthusiastic and managed to take hold of the game early on. we ran players on all day so everyone got good playing time. some good runs down the middle
by our forwards opened up gaps in which our back line capitalised on. The back line looked lethal everytime they held the ball. The size of Macallum and Melroy busting through the line made easy work for our wingers to find the try line.

The forward pack after a slow start, found its cohesian in the second half and started making great ground through pick and drives while also giving timely ball to the back line when needed. gaps started opening up and a frustrated Asheville started giving up alot of points and injuries.

At the end, knoxville soundly won 5 or 6 trys to 2 plus a few conversions. All in all a great effort for the first game.

A special mention goes to all our young rookies that made it out. they got their first serve of mens rugby in tough conditions and they all rose to the occasion.
