Hopkinsville September 27, 2003

September 28, 2003

A Side

Hopkinsville made a long early morning drive to play in a downpour, and was very impressive from the start of the match, showing good athleticism and fitness.

The Possums’ tackling was much improved over last week, and possession was maintained fairly well considering the weather conditions. Unfortunately for Hopkinsville, having a large number of guys playing in their second career match resulted in some costly penalties, but with a few matches under their belts, they’re going to be very competitive in the Spring matrix.

U23s

25 guys showed up ready to play–a tremendous turnout for the first match. Some of the Possums appeared a little tenative in the first few moments of their first ever match, but Luke Chandler led the charge in the centers early and gave the backs confidence throughout the match. Sewanee used superior fitness in their forwards to dominate loose play, thwarting clean Knoxville U23 ball.

B Side

Tens match. Robert Peagler was an All-Star stepping in and playing for the Headhunters. The quote of the day came from one of his sons–”Why doesn’t he do that when he’s playing for us?”
