Possum Hotline 92-RUGBY for up to date club information
Nashville September 20, 2003
September 21, 2003
A Side
The Possums scored the first try of the match, but had some tackling letdowns in the the middle of first half.
Nashville did a great job of taking advantage with some very well executed open field support and passing. Halftime score had Nashville leading 21-5. The second half was more even as the heat began to take affect. Most of the half was played between the 22s with Knoxville picking up the tackling a bit and Nashville thwarting the Possum offense by poaching balls at the breakdown. Both teams scored unconverted tries late in the match for a final score of 26-10.
B Side
Nashville put most of its players back onto the field for a second match, while Knoxville was lucky enough to have some young fresh legs. The young Possums played remarkably well against the more experienced Nashville side. The match ended with an exciting try by Adam “Koko” Brumback after Stephen Ballard made an outstanding play on the touchline to keep the ball in play. Ben scooped up the ball and made the assist. Final B-Side score 12-5 in favor of Nashville.
Over all, a great day for rugby, and it was very exciting to see so many young players from Knoxville play two tough matches against a well-drilled club.
